In its eleventh year Srishti Foundation brought the joyous ancient Dharmic festival of Holi to downtown London, ON, on April 29th 2022. Despite a rainy forecast and a rainy weekend, the weather gods paused the rain for a joyous, riot of colours, fun, dancing and music in a concert like setting with a 2500 strong crowd.
About 2500 people joined together in a Riot of Colours in a joyous celebration of HOLI with folk dances, high energy drummers, dancing & DJ.
People of different ethnicity danced, played with colours with synchronized colour throws and dancing at Victoria Park, in downtown London. It was an ocean of youthful energy, love, life and happiness with attendees dancing in an explosion of colours. The Mayor of London, Mr. Josh Morgan graced the occasion and spoke at the event. City councillors and Members of the Parliament and Provincial Legislature attended the event too.
The event was kicked off at 1:00pm in a traditional way with a Ganesh Puja. Pandit Doobay Ji who performed the puja called this festival and celebration a gift from the Hindu community to London, bringing in the message of unity in diversity, love and happiness to the city.
From there on, the high energy entertainment program raised the energy of the crowd. Our community youth, community performers and our feature performer & our DJ brought the crowd to its feet. The synchronized colour throwing was a huge draw turning the venue into an explosion of colours.
The event ended with a typical Aarti at 4:00 p.m, with many in attendance dancing in devotion.
Delicious Indian and other cuisines was provided by Food Vendors on-site.
We would like to thank our sponsors, all of the attendees and volunteers who helped make this event a great success, year after year.
