Help Underprivileged Youth in London play Sport
This Diwali an opportunity to empower underprivileged youth in London, ON, through organized sport.
The Nepali speaking Bhutanese Canadians arrived in Canada, during the past decade as part of the Federal Government’s Bhutanese Refugees Resettlement Program. The community has just about started to fare reasonably well. However there remains areas of concern. One such area is the youth in their community.
This is an effort to empower and engage their youth in London, ON, Canada, to :
1. Keep them out of trouble and harmful influences in a rough neighbourhood.
2. Channel their energy/passion for sport into self-development including leadership & team work.
3. Serve as role models to inspire more youth in their communities, to engage in positive pursuits.
4. Create a safe space for the youth in their communities.
4. Uplift their communities by empowering their next generation.
A group of youth in this community have been playing Volleyball at their Elementary and High School, for about 3 years now. To help serve the above mentioned causes, they have decided to take their involvement in the sport a notch higher. They are looking at making their team official, participate in a league, participate and organize tournaments – while actively recruiting players in their community and training them.
All of this requires funding, which most of their parents cannot afford or is not a priority, given they are either on social assistance or are financially challenged. They would need funding for
1. Rental of practice space during winter & early spring.
2. Practice balls & equipment
3. Joining a league, paying tournament fees, travelling etc.
4. Team Jerseys
A total of $2500 will help partially fund the above activities for these youth, for a year.
Hundred percent of your donations will go towards the cause, as this is completely run by volunteers at Srishti Foundation in Canada.
For transparency, all donors will receive a receipt & detailed reports of
1. Total amounts raised & transferred to the various vendors for the listed costs.
2. Utilization report & expense reports.
3. Pictures & progress of this project.
4. An opportunity to meet & interact with these youth in London, ON.
Please donate generously this Diwali to serve these underprivileged youth and uplift a community in our backyard.
