Date : April 11th 2015, Saturday 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

Over 1500 people attended the HOLI festival for a joyous celebration of the colours of  and coloured downtown London. People of different ethnicities celebrated, under perfect weather conditions at Victoria Park, in downtown London. It was an ocean of youthful energy, love, life and happiness with attendees dancing in an explosion of colours.

The attendance exceeded way past our expectations and so did the colour blasts of synchronized throwing and 350 Kgs of colour was exhausted in less than an hour. Next year in 2016, we will have a ton (no kidding) of colours on hand.

The event was kicked off at 1:00pm in a traditional way with a Ganesh Puja, performed and led by Acharya Sachin of Chinmaya Mission. He  later addressed the audience & conveyed the message and significance of Holi to the audience. From there on, the high energy entertainment program raised the energy of the crowd. Our feature performer – “Dholi Tanveer” brought the crowd to  its feet, with his interactive Dhol & Bol. The synchronized colour throwing was a huge draw turning the venue into an explosion of colours. The Kerala drummers performing the “Chenda Melam” added variety to the drumming to complement the Dhilis. Performances by Fanshawe students and community groups added to the energy at Victoria Park.

The Honourable Deputy Premier of Ontario, Ms. Deb Mathews, Honourbale MPs – Susan Truppe & Patrick Brown  addressed the audience and graced the celebrations. The event was also covered by CTV News and the media.

We would like to thank all of the attendees and volunteers who helped make this event a great success. The event would not have been possible without our sponsors – CIBC Wood Gundy & Chinmaya Mission, and the hard work put in by our own volunteers @ Srishti

Food vendors Taal Restaurant from Brantford, Saravana Bhavan from Mississaiga & Kiwi Craze provided a choice of savoury food at the venue.
