Sports for Underprivileged Youth

Helping underprivileged youth in London to play Organized Sport this summer.

Srishti its charity partner Sewa Canada International helped 10 Bhutanese youth to play organized soccer with London Athletic Canadian F.C.

In partnership with Kidsport Ontario,  the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program and donors from the Indo-Canadian community in London, we were able to raise $2,350 to fund this program with London Athletic Canadian F.C.

Through this program, these youth were able to receive professional coaching and play in the Competitive League in London, ON.

With most of their parents unemployed and on social assistance, enrolling their children in sports is a challenge, something they cannot afford and at the bottom of their priority. We at Srishti believe that sport is a great enabler. Srishti and Sewa Canada International would like to thank all of the donors, for their generosity and giving back to the society, and making this happen.

Since 2010 Srishti has been enabling under privileged Bhutanese boys and girls to play Field Hockey. This has been possible due to collaboration with our partner – the London Field Hockey Club , support by volunteers and financial support from the Indo-Canadian community.

The Bhutanese boys and girls who have been arriving in London, ON as refugees from camps in Nepal, since late 2009, never had the opportunity to play organized sport in their lives before. They have since proved to be excellent athletes, fine players and have most importantly developed self-confidence via organized sport, while also helping them to keep off the streets in a tough neighbourhood.
