Wow….what a blast it was …. a riot of colours that coloured and rocked downtown London on April 12th, for 3 hours!!
The event exceeded our expectations with over 800 people of different ethnicities celebrated Holi 2014, under perfect weather conditions at Victoria Park, in downtown London. It was an ocean of youthful energy, love and happiness with attendees dancing in an explosion of colours.
The event was kicked off at 1:00pm in a traditional way with prayers by Pandit Tiwari of the Hindu Temple in London. Swamini Bhavya Bharati of the Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, addressed the audience, conveyed the message and significance of Holi to the audience. From there on, the high energy entertainment program raised the energy of the crowd. Our feature performer – “Dholi Tanveer” brought the crowd to its feet, with his interactive Dhol & Bol. The synchronized colour throwing was a huge draw turning the venue into an explosion of colours. The DRUM CIRCLE, the Fanshawe College’s Desi Hoppers with their flash mob and other community groups added to the energy at Victoria Park.
The Honourable Minister of Health of Ontario, Ms. Deb Mathews addressed the audience and mentioned ” I have never seen such a rocking colourful party”. The event was also covered by CTV News and the media.
We would like to thank all of the attendees and volunteers who helped make this event a great success. The event would not have been possible without our sponsors – CIBC Wood Gundy, Sandi Sethi, Global BI, Vonage and support from our partners Chinmaya Mission and Art of Living.
Food vendors Taal Restaurant from Brantford, Kiwi Craze & “Momos at the Market” provided a choice of savoury food at the venue.
